The Sunset... Twilight Color Explained

Sunset. Or others describe it as sundown. Where the Sun disappears below the horizon because the Earth is rotating on its axis.
As explained by ScienceDaily: Scattering affects the color of light coming from the sky, but the details are determined by the wavelength of the light and the size of the particle. The short-wavelength blue and violet are scattered by molecules in the air much more than other colors of the spectrum. This is why blue and violet light reaches our eyes from all directions on a clear day. But because we can't see violet very well, the sky appears blue. Scattering also explains the colors of the sunrise and sunset, Ackerman says. “Because the sun is low on the horizon, sunlight passes through more air at sunset and sunrise than during the day, when the sun is higher in the sky. More atmosphere means more molecules to scatter the violet and blue light away from your eyes. If the path is long enough, all of the blue and violet light scatters out of your line of sight. The other colors continue on their way to your eyes. This is why sunsets are often yellow, orange, and red.” And because red has the longest wavelength of any visible light, the sun is red when it’s on the horizon, where its extremely long path through the atmosphere blocks all other colors.
“Dusk is just an illusion because the sun is either above the horizon or below it. And that means that day and night are linked in a way that few things are there cannot be one without the other yet they cannot exist at the same time. How would it feel I remember wondering to be always together yet forever apart?” ― Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook
I love sunset because of the purplish color across the sky. It calms my soul and mind. Hope you also like Sunsets too.

Seagull Mountain Resort

Planning on a vacation? Seagull Mountain Resort is a must-see destination here in Davao City. Located along Buda Road (Davao-Bukidnon Road), Barangay Lorega, Marilog District, Davao City.

This is the Buda Road. Foggy because when we arrived, it was drizzling here. So cold!

This is the waterfalls. It will take around five minutes to get down from the Entrance by riding their shuttle. You can take along with you your packed lunch or have a barbecue or grilled fish. So refreshing with so cold water.

This is the view. If you're a nature lover. You will gonna love staying here!

Davao Baywalk

It was Black Saturday.. We planned to go swimming. We didn't thought that it rained that night. The tide is high and we can't even swim. Our alternative plan, Baywalk. A little walk.. A little sweat... But I enjoyed taking pictures of the sunrise!

Good morning Davao! Sunrise. Cool breeze. A perfect place to go for a walk or even a jog with a view of Mt. Apo.

Below is a replica of Michaelangelo's Statue of David. Which marks this place as of the tourist destination in Davao.

Another Davao's Pride. Got only a few shots here because we didn't stay long.We have to go home. The sun is rising high. It's getting hotter. And I'm hungry! No breakfast yet. **wink**

By the Sea

It's summertime here in the Philippines! Here are my photos of some of the beaches I've been. I seldom swim. But I always took photos that captures my attention. I usually get fascinated and amazed on the different moods of the sea.
My first photo was taken at Maxima Aqua Fun in Samal Island, Davao. Wishing that someday I can experience island hopping!
I don't know what was in my mind when taking this photo. A big rock (i think this is a coral stone) with small soft waves. Very gentle.
I love this photo! It's one of my favourites! Taken in Sigaboy, Davao Oriental. The mangrove trees, the sea and the sunset. Very relaxing scenery. For me, this is an anti-stress moment. Sitting outside while sipping some coffee and reminiscing.
My next photo was taken in Caraga, Davao Oriental. Breathtaking scenery! For the first time in my life, I stood in front of Pacific Ocean! Looks like gentle waves, but its kinda a heavy one! It's like massaging your back as it hit you.
Taken in Panglao, Bohol. Waves here is different. Very gentle.
Enjoy the summer and let's hit the waves!

Davao's Treasures

Another year for Davao City! 75th Araw ng Dabaw. Life is Here.
I found it interesting to post some photos about my hometown. This picture came from the web. I don't have some photos of "Waling-Waling". It is an orchid. I included this because I think its year 2008 when Davao City had lanterns along the streets. These colorful lights caught my eyes when I came from Cebu. Amazing aerial view!
I love this! Davao won't be Davao without this exotic fruit name "Durian". At first, I hate its smell. Until I tasted it. Two thumbs up! But be careful. Over eating this fruit will lead to hypertension and high cholesterol. And thank you for this fruit because I heard, its helpful of patients with dengue and to those who has anemia. This fruit will help to increase platelet counts. I don't know if this is true. But a lot of people are telling this fruit can be an alternative medicine.
Another treasure is the famous monkey-eating eagle. Got this photo when we visit the sanctuary.
The last and most majestic scenery that Davao is famous with... The Mt. Apo. Highest mountain in the Philippines. Got my best shots.
Happy Araw ng Dabaw to all Dabawenyos!!! :-)

Lantaw Bukid Resort, Davao City

Another holiday. Another getaway to relax from city life. We chose Lantaw Bukid Resort, located at Los Amigos, Tugbok District, Davao City. A 30-minutes to an hour ride from downtown area, depending traffic situation. I think it is called Lantaw Bukid because "Lantaw" in our dialect here means "look" and "bukid" means mountain. And it's true. Overlooking nature.

Lantaw Bukid Resort has many amenities. There is a small pond for fishing "Hito" (Catfish), and also for boating. It has also a pool area for adults and kids. The kiddie pool is amazing because there is a fountain at its center. There is an open playground for all ages!

I love this place because it is very peaceful. Away from busy streets and traffic. Away from a stressful living just for a day. It is a fun way catching up with friends and family members. There are cottages if you just want to sit down and have a chat while eating. Or do some adventure or just swim and feel the heat of the sun.

I love Davao City! There's no place like home...

Windy and Chilly Christmas!

This day kinda cold and chilly. But of course, going to the beach is exciting! hehe here are some of my photos in Samal Island. Oh yes! A little bit windy while crossing the sea.. The waves are moderate. So its not so freaky for me. hehe
This is my first photo. Low tide..
Caliclic Resort. Caliclic, Babak, Island Garden City of Samal.
The wind start getting stronger. The tide is getting higher. And all of us are 10 meters away from the shore! Chilly...
At last, milder.. Back in taking pictures again! hehe
Back to Davao City.. But before going back, I took a picture of the Port of Davao... Lights onboard...

Merry Christmas to all!

A Past From a Present

These photos are in my photography gallery. Kind of nostalgic. It's like an old photograph of the present.

This photo is taken somewhere in Davao del Norte, Philippines. It became a past to us because this land was ours. But we have to give it up because it is very far from our home. This landscape had a vast rice field. Now, cavendish bananas is the source of income here.

This photo was taken by a bored person during lunch time. We had a seminar, and of course, having a break time with nothing to do will give you ideas to get out of boredom. And here it is! Two pairs of shoes.

The "El Salvador del Mundo Church". One of the oldest church here in Mindanao. Built in 1800's.

One of the ancestral homes in Camiguin, Philippines. A preserved ancestral heritage.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Happy blogging bloggers!

Hello Caraga!

Its been a while since my last blog. I'm so happy because I didn't expect that my Pagerank is 2! For how many years, I waited for this! hehehe

I would like to share my trip to Caraga. The hometown of my boyfriend. We went there with my family for some business reasons. Anyways, I love the place! Located somewhere in Davao Oriental. But these photos are taken somewhere in Mati.

This is called "Sleeping Dinosaur Island". Very amazing because it looks like a sleeping dinosaur!

Coastal road going to Mati.

For the first time! Got a picture that has a reflection of the sky! hehehe

This is Caraga coast. I didn't swim.. Know why? I'm afraid! It's facing Pacific Ocean!

See? Facing the Pacific! The waves are calm. But the idea that its facing a vast ocean, I'm scared!

It's time to go back to the house where we stayed. Getting darker... and also getting the most out of the sunset!

Well, till next blogging moment! Hope you like the photos!

It's a Beautiful Day!

Yup! that's right! It's a beautiful day. No more rain showers. For the past 2 weeks, almost every day is a gloomy day. So blessed that today is just a beautiful day. My laundry are all dried. hehehe We had lunch together with my family at Mintal, Davao City. Got a crave for a deep fried "pantat" or they called it catfish.
A rooster! A view from my window every morning. I like this photo because of the strong "personality" i think that this rooster projects!
And of course, the Majestic Mt. Apo! When I noticed the color of the Mt. Apo, I immediately grabbed my camera and here ye!
This Sunday, I thank our Creator for this wonderful things around us. The sunrise. A new day to live by... **wink**

Amazing Nature

I'm an avid fan of National Geographic Channel Asia. I really like how they took shots. I am amazed how they got their best shots. Two thumbs up for their professional photographers!! And so, here I am, inspired.. I am sharing some of my collections.

Spider... This one is really big from ordinary spider we saw in our backyard or attic. At first, I'm afraid to get near. But hey! what's the use of the zoom of the camera???? hehehehe
This snail really caught my attention! A snail gliding on a stem! Captured moment i guess!
One of the eagles living in sanctuary here in Davao City.
